PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a fixing device that forms a high quality image without causing gloss differences despite successive passage of transfer materials. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has the fixing device that thermally fixes an unfixed toner image by passing a transfer material with the unfixed toner image thereon through a fixing nip between a thermal fixing rotation body and a pressure rotation body disposed in pressure contact with the thermal fixing rotation body. In the image forming apparatus, the quantity Q (watt) of heat supply of a partial heating means disposed near the circumference of the thermal fixing rotation body is set to Q=K×W×M×V and 70≤K≤220, wherein K is a coefficient, W is the heating width (m) of the heat fixing rotation body, M is the basis weight (g/m<SP>2</SP>) of the transfer material, and V is the speed (m/sec) at which the transfer material is conveyed.
