<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the waiting time up to printing, when shifting from a monocolor mode to a full color mode is performed. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-color image forming apparatus is provided with: a plurality of photoreceptors which can be selectively made in a contact or non-contact state with an image carrier or a transfer material transport means; a drive transmission member; a means for detecting the phase difference of the drive transmission member; a plurality of motors for driving the drive transmission member; a first image forming mode in which at least one of the photoreceptors is driven; and a second image forming mode in which all of the photoreceptors are driven. The multi-color image forming apparatus is configured so that when the first image forming mode is switched to the second image forming mode, the member to be detected of the drive transmission member while being driven is detected and the driving of a rotating body while being stopped is started in the non-contact state with the image carrier or the transfer material transport means, based on predetermined timing basing on the time when the member is detected as a reference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
