PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope with improved operability in bending operation, capable of preventing forming of creases and reducing the diameter of an insertion part; and a shell for the endoscope to form the endoscope. SOLUTION: The endoscope 12 comprises slender bending structures 42 and 44 to be bent/operated, and the shell 50 covering the outer surface of the bending structures 42 and 44. The shell 50 comprises a cylindrical body part and beam parts 54a and 54b extending from one end to the other end of the bending structures 42 and 44 and having higher hardness than the other parts of the shell 50.
