PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability in opening a sewing machine cover. SOLUTION: A sewing machine 1 includes: a cloth-cutting knife mechanism for cutting a cloth held between a moving knife and a fixed knife; a sewing machine cover 4 opening the inside of a sewing machine body 2 by the turning in a direction A and shielding the inside of the sewing machine body 2 by the turning in a direction B; and a slide cover 5 at least partially provided below a cloth-cutting portion of the cloth-cutting knife mechanism, attached to the sewing machine cover 4 so as to be freely slid in directions C and D, and allowing the turning of the sewing machine cover 4 when slid in the direction C. The sewing machine 1 discharges cloth dust generated by cutting the cloth by the cloth-cutting knife mechanism from the slide cover 5 to the outside of the sewing machine body 2. The slide cover 5 includes an opening cam mechanism 62 for slidably moving the slide cover 5 in the direction C in association with the turning of the sewing machine cover 4 in the direction A.
