<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the image density of a thin part, such as a one-dot line or character in high resolution. <P>SOLUTION: A simulation calculating section 17 simulates a latent image profile based on print image data, charging potential data and exposure quantity data. For development biases in a predetermined range, an image evaluating section 19 evaluates the quality of an image based upon a contrast between the latent image profile and the development bias. In the case where a desired image quality is not obtained even after the development bias is adjusted within the predetermined range, data on a charging potential and data on an amount of exposure, which are stored in a setting section 18, are altered to improve the image quality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
