<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a density correcting method for an LED array which suppresses the non-uniformity of density at image forming caused by the temperature characteristics of the LED element, without using a temperature sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The density correcting method for the LED array wherein a plurality of LED elements subjected to the lighting control corresponding to image data are arranged in the main scanning direction comprises the steps of; storing in advance the fluctuation of light quantity of the LED elements due to temperature rise in the relationship with the number of lighting of the LED elements in the sub-scanning direction at image forming, computing the number of lighting of each LED element in the sub-scanning direction at actual image forming, obtaining the correction value with respect to the fluctuation of light quantity of each LED element on the basis of the stored relationship according to the number of lighting of each LED element in the sub-scanning direction at the computed actual image forming to control the lighting operation of each LED element, and correcting the fluctuation of density caused by the fluctuation of light quantity of each LED element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
