PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy to insert magnets into a yoke member and to hereby efficiently manufacture a high-performance and small actuator. SOLUTION: In the actuator, multiple permanent magnet pieces 1 having partly arc-shaped cross sections are magnetically attracted to the inner circumferential surface 4a of the cylindrical yoke member 4. A folded-back portion 4b, folded back substantially at a right angle, is formed at one end of the cylindrical yoke member 4. End faces of the permanent magnet pieces 1 are magnetically attracted to the folded-back portion 4b. To manufacture the actuator, the following procedure is taken: the permanent magnet pieces (C-shaped permanent magnet pieces 1) having partly arc-shaped cross sections are magnetically attracted to the circumferential surface of a central rod 2 formed of magnetic material, and in this state, the yoke member 4 and the C-shaped permanent magnet pieces 1 are opposed to each other. The position of the C-shaped permanent magnet pieces 1 is controlled by a non-magnetic bearer 3, and the central rod 2 is pulled out.
