PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent melting and wearing of high-speed rotation braking members and releasing members of a reel. SOLUTION: A recording tape cartridge 10 is provided with a hub 22 which has a bottomed cylindrical shape, a reel 20 in which a recording tape T is wound on the hub 22, a case 12 which stores the reel 20 in a freely rotative manner by itself, a braking member 80 which is arranged in the hub 22 in rotation disabled manner, with respect to the case 12 and engages with an engaging section 48 formed on the hub 22 for stopping the rotation of the reel 20 and a release member 90, which is arranged between a bottom section 28 of the hub 22 and the braking member 80 and rotates with the reel 20, while pushing up the braking member 80 to release the engagement with the engaging section 48 by being pushed up by the rotation driving member of a drive device during the use of the recording cartridge. A turbulence-generating means 96 is formed on a surface 90A, which is placed facing the braking member 80 of the release member 90 and can generated turbulence by the rotation of the release member 90.
