FILTER FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING THE SAME

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for a liquid crystal display, which is used for improving the color purity of the liquid crystal display without substantially shifting a white point of the liquid crystal display.

SOLUTION: This filter for the liquid crystal display contains a blue improving dyestuff having an absorption peak between 495 nm and 507 nm and a red improving dyestuff having the absorption peak between 585 nm and 600 nm and 85-93 nm peak distance between its own absorption peak and that of the blue improving dyestuff. When the absorbance (abs) of this filter at 800 nm is defined as 0 of a reference, the ratio (abs1×w1)/(abs2×w2) is 1.3-1.8 (wherein abs1 and w1 are respectively the absorption peak value and half-width of this filter at near 500 nm; abs2 and w2 are respectively those of this filter at near 590 nm).
