DETECTION DEVICE, DETECTION METHOD AND DETECTION PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that can quickly detect subjects of a plurality of sizes existing in an image.

SOLUTION: Detection processing creates pyramid images MP (MP1) partly shared by pyramid images used in the detection of objects of a plurality of sizes and pyramid images used in fast detection. Specifically, an image once used in the detection processing is changed to pyramid images reusable in the detection processing of faces of different sizes, and further to the pyramid images by a method effectively using a contraction rate β=1/K (K is an integer not less than 2). The total number of created pyramid images used in detection processing can be reduced and the processing time for contraction image creation can be shortened.
