PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the long side size of the body B of a box material A for opening larger than that of a conventional one even when the suction area along the long side of the body of the box material A is short as to a box opening suction device 14. SOLUTION: This box opening device is provided with a hopper device 2 for pushing out a plurality of box materials A which are flatly folded and loaded in a standing condition and a pull out device 13 provided with an opening suction implement 14 which moves freely reciprocally for opening the materials A by sucking with the suction implement 14 the front one side Ba of the body part B of the frontmost box material A loaded on the hopper device 2. A suction implement 22 for folding is provided freely and reciprocally slidable. A folding device 15 is provided for folding a flap using the implement 22 moving frontward while a flap Da connected to the front one side Ba of the body B of the material A is sucked and for moving frontward the implement 22 in the flap folded condition with the implement 14.
