PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To well lay out wires connected to electrodes without using a spacer and without increasing mass in an image display device having a vacuum container formed of a glass. SOLUTION: This image display device comprises a sealable glass container having at least a front glass and a rear glass and a support member suppressing the deformation of the glass container. The bundle of wires connected to the electrodes on the rear glass is intermittently taken out through a plurality of openings intermittently formed in the side surface part of the support member. Relational expressions of G<SB>C</SB>≤G<SB>E</SB>and Gmin≤GC≤1.2 Gmin are satisfied, where the width of an opening part nearest the longitudinal center of the support member is G<SB>C</SB>, the width of an opening part nearest the corner part of the support member is G<SB>E</SB>, and the width of an opening part narrowest on the longitudinal side of the support member is G<SB>E</SB>.
