PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the magnetic permeability of a whole free layer by thinning bias impression films. SOLUTION: A magnetoresistive effect head comprises a first ferromagnetic film for rotating magnetization; a second ferromagnetic film which is laminated on the first ferromagnetic film so as to practically keep fixed magnetization; the pair of magnetic bias impression film for holding the first ferromagnetic film from a track width direction; a first electrode which is formed in the neighborhood of the first ferromagnetic film and the pair of magnetic bias impression film so as to be electrically connected to the first ferromagnetic film and the pair of magnetic bias impression film; a second electrode for holding a lamination body, constituted of the first and second ferromagnetic films, from a film surface vertical direction together with the first electrode; a first current route flow from the second electrode into the first electrode via the lamination body constituted of the first and second ferromagnetic films; and a second current route which is divided from the first current route in the first ferromagnetic film and flows from the first ferromagnetic film into the first electrode via the magnetic bias impression films.
