The surface treatment process includes subjecting them to radiation with metal particles and then cleaning the surface with an acid to remove the residue of the metal particles. This is done with citric or formic acid. The metal particles used may be roughly cylindrical shot of diameter 0.52 to 0.9 mm., a creating pressure stresses at the edge from 500 to 1500 MPa.
