PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional inkjet recorder, employing a means for reducing an amount of ink by thinning data in the case where the amount of ink is large in the recording, is not able to carry out high-speed recording because the time period for processing the thinning of the data is great, or may make no matching with user's intention when the data is thinned by automatically separating an image region. SOLUTION: This inkjet recorder is equipped with a conveyance mechanism for conveying a recording medium and a head unit constituted of one or more print heads each having a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink. The inkjet recorder comprises a means for designating one or more arbitrary areas of image data, a means for designating an image pattern for thinning the image data in the arbitrary area and a means for processing the thinning of the image data according to the arbitrary area and the image pattern.
