<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve thermal efficiency by utilizing exhaust heat recovered from hydrogen generation steps. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus for generating hydrogen comprises a Bunsen reactor 4 to produce hydrogen iodide 22 and sulfuric acid 23 by the thermochemical decomposition of iodine 21, sulfur dioxide 24 and water 18, a hydrogen iodide concentrating and decomposing means to concentrate and decompose the produced and separated hydrogen iodide 22, a sulfuric acid concentrating and decomposing means to concentrate and decompose the separated sulfuric acid 23 and heat transferring means (for example, heaters 16a, 16b and 16c) to transfer the exhaust heat from at least a device (for example, a sulfer trioxide decomposer 14) selected among the hydrogen iodide concentrating and decomposing means and the sulfuric acid concentrating and decomposing means to a device (for example, a hydrogen iodide decomposer 8) whose temperature in use is lower than that of the selected device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
