<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect double feed by low-cost and simple control. <P>SOLUTION: In a paper carrying device, loaded sheets on a plurality of paper feed trays 8, 9, and 10 are fed one by one to be carried. Thickness of paper stored in each of the plurality of the paper feed trays 8, 9, and 10 is compared with thickness of paper fed from one of the plurality of paper feed trays 8, 9, and 10 detected by a paper thickness detecting device 101. Based on result of comparison, if double feed of paper has occurred or not is determined. In case where double feed is detected, a message for informing of the fact is given to a liquid crystal operation panel. Images on preceding transfer paper is cleaned once, and the paper determined as double feed is discharged as white paper to a separate discharge destination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
