A device (1) for the adjustment of a gland nut (2), provided with a plurality of gripping means (8) through which said gland nut (2) can be caused to rotate, comprising an engaging member (3) and actuator means (25, 26) to cause the engaging member (3) to effect a working movement from a first position to a second position. The engaging member (3) is capable of effecting one-way engagement with the gripping means (8) to rotate the gland nut (2) through a predetermined angle (±) in the working movement from the first position to the second position.
