There are described triazine derivatives of formula (1), wherein R<SUB>1 </SUB>is an unsubstituted or mono- or poly-hydroxy-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkyl-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkoxy-, amino-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>monoalkylamino- or di-C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>alkylamino-substituted C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkyl, C<SUB>2</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkenyl, C<SUB>6</SUB>-C<SUB>10 </SUB>aryl or C<SUB>6</SUB>-C<SUB>10 </SUB>heteroaryl radical; unsubstituted or C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>alkyl-substituted C<SUB>5</SUB>-C<SUB>7 </SUB>cycloalkyl or C<SUB>5</SUB>-C<SUB>7 </SUB>cycloalkenyl; -OR'; or -NR'R''; R<SUB>2 </SUB>is hydrogen; an unsubstituted or mono- or poly-hydroxy-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkoxy-, cyano-, amino, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>monoalkylamino- or di-C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>alkylamino-substituted C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkyl, C<SUB>2</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkenyl; C<SUB>6</SUB>-C<SUB>10 </SUB>aryl or C<SUB>6</SUB>-C<SUB>10 </SUB>heteroaryl radical; -OR'; or -NR'R''; or R<SUB>1 </SUB>and R<SUB>2 </SUB>together form a 5- to 7-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; A is C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>alkyl; an unsubstituted or hydroxy-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkyl- or C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkoxy-substituted C<SUB>6</SUB>-C<SUB>10 </SUB>aryl or heteroaryl radical; or a radical of formula (1a); R' and R'' are each independently of the other hydrogen; unsubstituted or mono- or poly-hydroxy-, halo-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkyl-, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkoxy-, amino- or quaternary ammonium group-substituted C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>18 </SUB>alkyl, C<SUB>5</SUB>-C<SUB>7 </SUB>cycloalkyl or phenyl; R<SUB>3 </SUB>is hydrogen; or C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>6 </SUB>alkyl; and n is 0 or 1. The compounds according to the invention are suitable especially as sun protective agents in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and veterinary medicine preparations
