<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a mobile terminal allowing user-friendly pointer operation without depending on key operation or a pointing device. <P>SOLUTION: In this portable information terminal, when pushing down a selection button of an input device, a tilt detection device 5 having an acceleration sensor detects a tilt of the terminal itself to a reference angle. A processor 1 calculates velocity and a movement direction of a pointer from the tilt, and travels the pointer on a display device 4. The velocity of the pointer is increased when increasing the tilt, and the pointer is decelerated when reducing the tilt. When returning the tilt to the reference angle when the pointer reaches an application program start button in a target position, the pointer stops. When releasing the selection button, a program starts. Movement of the pointer can be controlled on a screen such that a marble is moved by a tilt of a tray. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
