The method involves determining a reference value is determined depending on detected value of the magnitude of the respective switch. Correction values (COR11, COR12, COR 1N) for each switch are determined for correcting switching times to activate switching operation of the respective switch. An input signal for respective switch is generated depending on the correction values and the respective switching time. The detected value is a representative for the current which flows through respective switch. An independent claim is also included for a system having a device for balancing a transient current in a switching device.
