The positioning device comprises a linearly guided feed and positioning unit (1) with manually or NC-controlled driven rotational and longitudinal movement as well as with manual, pneumatic or hydraulic clamping making up one universally usable accessory unit. A digital measuring device with digital position indicators (9) can be used for the longitudinal movement whilst scales and digital measuring device can be used for rotational movement. Independent claim describes method for positioning pipes and profiles using the device above.
