PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating element that enables easy mounting of an electrode section for energizing a conductive thin film formed on a transparent substrate, the electrode section having satisfactory resistance to thermal shock, the heating element being capable of preventing the electrode section from generating heat. SOLUTION: The heating element 1 has a structure in which the transparent substrate 2 having the conductive thin film 3 formed on a back surface thereof and a transparent plate 4 opposed to the conductive thin film 3 are stacked. Two spacers 5, 5 with electrodes, which are arranged at a predetermined distance from each other, are provided between the transparent substrate 2 and the transparent plate 4. The electrode section 10 having contact terminals 11 touching the conductive thin film 3 is mounted on each of the spacers 5, 5.
