PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a POF and a POF cable excellent in heat shrinkable characteristic under a high temperature environment of approximately 100-105°C. SOLUTION: On the outer circumference of a core composed of a homopolymer of a methyl methacrylate unit or a copolymer of a methyl methacrylate unit and other copolymerizing monomeric unit, the POF is provided with at least one or more clad layers made of a resin having a lower refractive index than the homopolymer or the copolymer.
