摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an irradiation-induced scintillation material suitable for a high-temperature operation in a nuclear fission reactor such as a light-water reactor and a nuclear fusion reactor and provide a radiation counting device provided with the scintillation material. SOLUTION: An irradiation-induced scintillation material operable at a high temperature can be produced by using a rare earth metal oxide, and a radiation counting device is produced by using the rare earth metal oxide. More particularly, the rare earth metal oxide is one or more substances selected from europium oxide (Eu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>), gadolinium oxide (Gd<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>) and erbium oxide (Er<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>), and the radiation counting device is composed of an optical fiber, a light detector and the scintillation material placed at an end of the optical fiber.
