PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting component useful as a resistive current limiter with which a local electric field generated between adjacent conductive segments can be made as small as possible. SOLUTION: The useful resistive current limiter composed of a cylindrical superconductor made of a high-temperature superconducting material is oriented by a cylindrical superconducting component equipped with a number of directional grooves 3 alternately notched in parallel at right angles with a long axis and a long groove 2 running in parallel with the long axis almost over a whole length of the cylindrical superconductor.
