The intermediate plate (18) is cylindrical and fits inside a tubular housing member forming part of the fuel injector. There is a central through bore (4) surrounded by a sealing ridge (2) on the top surface (7). The surface outside the ridge (3) is eroded to a greater depth and contains two additional through bores. An outer rim is finished to the same height as the sealing ridge and has further bores (6).
