PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of inhibiting vibration or noise generated in the dewatering process. SOLUTION: The washing machine comprises a water receiving tub 3 enclosing a rotary drum with the center axis of rotation in the horizontal or inclined direction, a motor 5 for driving the rotary drum 1, a control means 20 with a built-in microcomputer 40 for controlling the motor, and a displacement detection sensor 22. The displacement detection sensor 22 has a core 22d disposed in the center of the axis of one excitation coil 22c and two detection coils 22a and 22b which are coaxially disposed and movable interlocking with the displacement of the water receiving tub 3. One of two terminals of the excitation coil 22c and the detection coils 22a and 22b is connected to one another in common, and the common terminals are connected to the 0 V level of the power supply of the microcomputer 40 in common, so that the vibration of the water receiving tub 3 is directly detected. The vibration in the dewatering process can be greatly reduced by precisely controlling the rotation of the motor based on the result of the detection. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
