PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle detector capable of preventing flows of sample air and clean air from turning into a turbulent flow state, in the detection region. SOLUTION: In this particle detector, sample air is introduced from a suction nozzle 21 into a sensor block 4, and the sample air is irradiated with a laser light La, to thereby detect optically particles in the sample air. The detector is equipped with a sheath tube 22, arranged coaxially with a suction nozzle 21 around the suction nozzle 21, for supplying the clean air enclosing the flow of the sample air, and is provided with a straightening element 26 for lowering the Reynolds number (critical value between a laminar flow and a turbulent flow) for showing a flow characteristic in the sheath tube 22 or in a passage 2 for introducing the clean air into the sheath tube 22.
