PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate reading a character information, a graphic information or the like from a photographed picture. SOLUTION: The picture data of the photographed picture are stored in a picture memory by the processings of ST1 to ST2. When the selection of a conversion processing mode is discriminated in ST3, a color range converting a color and the color after the conversion are set by a user in ST4. The color range is set by varying a brightness, a chroma and a hue based on the display colors of the character information and the graphic information. A conversion-processing loop displayed in ST5 is conducted, and data at every picture element stored in the picture memory are read successively. When the colors of the read picture elements are discriminated as contained within the color range in ST5-1, the read picture elements are converted into the color set in ST4 by the processing in ST5-2, and rewritten at the original place of the picture memory. The picture elements within the color range set based on the display colors of the character information and the graphic information are converted into the set color, and the informations are read easily.
