PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mattress allowing a user to more comfortably sleep on the mattress by inhibiting the discomfort caused by the heat or humidity emitted from the body of the user and reducing the compressed feel caused by the body pressure of the body of the user. SOLUTION: The heat or humidity is emitted from the body of the user to a plurality of recessed ventilation grooves 2 formed on the mattress 1. Since each ventilation groove 2 is arched as seen from the top and formed in such a shape that the center region in the cross direction of the mattress swells out to one side of the mattress 1 in the longitudinal direction, the mattress 1 can be easily elastically deformed to fit curved regions of the user, especially the buttocks and the shoulders, so that the body pressure applied to the mattress can be reduced. If the user turns on the mattress 1 to roll in the cross direction of the mattress 1, the body of the user is laid on different ventilation grooves 2 after the turning from the ones on which the user lied on before the turning. As a result, the ventilation grooves 2 to which the heat or humidity is emitted from the body of the user are changed, so that filling of the ventilation grooves 2 with heat or humidity is dissolved as the user turns on the mattress.
