The machine has a roller (6a) advancing an iron on a table. An iron straightening station (4) placed between stoppers (5, 6) has posts (24, 27) to exert a force on the iron sides and a sensor (29) and a coding device (40) to find a spacing between iron`s axis and a theoretical axis of posts if the spacing is greater than/equal to a preset threshold. A unit controls advancement and stoppage of the iron at each actuation of the station.
