The table has two or more transverse cross-pieces (2) extend between parallel lengthwise a profiled members (1). The latter have coupling portions (1, 1), to which the pieces are detachably secured by mating components (2, 1), being adjustable in the lengthwise direction of the members. The sides of the members towards each other can be profiled to form the coupling portions, typically having grooves in which protrusions on the mating component are lockable. The grooves and mating components can be of T- or trapezium-section. One half of a groove can be formed by a detachable clamping-piece.
