METHOD FOR PRODUCING MAGNESIUM ALLOY PRODUCT

Provided are a method for producing a magnesium alloy product which can produce a magnesium alloy product having high strength, and a magnesium alloy product, particularly a magnesium alloy wire, being excellent in strength. A molten magnesium alloy is supplied to a continuous casting apparatus equipped with a movable mold, to prepare a cast material, and the cast material is supplied to the space between at least one pair of rolls, to subject the cast material to area reduction working (rolling). This rolling is so carried out as to put pressure on the transverse section of the cast material from three or more directions by the rolls. A magnesium alloy product obtained by the above method has a fine crystal structure and is excellent in plastic workability.
