A clutch (42) at the distal end of the surgical instrument (22) is operable to a clutch position in which an implant (12) is held. The clutch has spaced first clutch members and spaced second clutch members movable along a longitudinal axis (38) between the clutch position and a retracted position. An independent claim is also included for an implant system.
