PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method of an inkjet system which is capable of feeding and discharging a recording medium from one side part, suppressing upsizing and cost up, and suitably using a special recording medium and performing an edgeless recording. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 100 comprises a paper feeding and discharging part 10 provided on one side part and for feeding and discharging a recording paper 1, an image recording part 40, and the first roller part 50 and the second roller part 60 placing the image recording part 40 between them and positioned on the paper feeding and discharging part 10 side and on the opposite side. When an unrecorded recording paper 1 is fed from the paper feeding and discharging part 10, the first roller part 50 and the second roller part 60 carry it to the opposite side of a transporting passage passing through the image recording part 40. When the recording paper 1 reaches the opposite side, while it is returned to the paper feeding and discharging part 10 side by passing it through the same transporting passage, an inkjet recording head 30 forms an image on the whole face of the recording paper 1.
