PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture an electrooptical device, with which a high-quality display is produced. SOLUTION: In an alignment layer forming step, the alignment layer is formed on a substrate surface of at least one out of a pair of substrates, having stripe shaped elevation changes, by conducting oblique deposition with a prescribed deposition angle along a deposition direction set in the substrate surface taking the extending direction of the elevation changes as a reference and in a range in which no alignment defect of an electro-optic material occurs.
