Adaptive demodulator

The circuit has an analog-to-digital conversion unit (10) for utilizing a sampling signal based on a frequency having a period shorter than the duration of a symbol. A multiplexer (12) selects a number of significant samples smaller than the number of samples which are obtained with a sampling of the symbol at the frequency, and a decision circuit (13) decides the symbol state based on the selected samples. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a binary state supported by an analog symbol.
