A preference information collecting system for collecting commodities and services in which the users are interested as the users' preferences. The preference information collecting system comprises information search device (104) including user portable terminals (102) which can store user identifiers for uniquely identifying users, a search information input section (108) for allowing a user to input search information to search for desired information, and a user identifier acquiring section (110) for acquiring the identifier of the user, and a preference information management server (114) for managing user's preference information. The information search device (104) associates the user identifier acquired from the user portable terminal with the commodity/service information searched for by the user and transmits them to the preference information management server.
