<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording material which is excellent in thermal responding property, image preserving property and water-resistance, and excellent in the seal fixing property for a stamp, a seal or the like. <P>SOLUTION: For this heat-sensitive recording material, on a supporting body, a heat-sensitive coloring layer which develops a color by heat, and a protective layer on the top of the heat-sensitive coloring layer are provided. In the heat-sensitive recording material, the protecting layer contains a polyvinyl alcohol based resin, a chitosan, a crosslinking agent, and an inorganic pigment. As the inorganic pigment in the protective layer, a silica of which the average particle size is 1 to 10 μm is used, and the content of the inorganic pigment in the protective layer is made 30 to 60 mass% of the total solid portion in the protective layer.
