The device has a read/write device (16) for counting shots that takes place during playing of a game. The device (16) reads stored data e.g. counted scores of the game, from a memory card (10) or writes the counted scores onto the card. The device (16) includes a numerical keypad (20) to increment scores stored in the card and a display unit (18) to display the scores. The device is intended to be portable and the card is designed to be used for cashless payment transactions or as a smart card.
