PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an annotation name display apparatus, an annotation name display method, etc. which enable display amount of an annotation name to be selected under the same reduction scale. SOLUTION: The annotation name display apparatus is provided with: a location related information acquisition means 50; a map picture generation information storage means 206 storing map picture generation information for generating a map picture based on location related information; an annotation name display generation information storage means 214 storing annotation name display generation information for generating, based on the location related information, annotation name display showing the name of an object; a composite picture generation information storage means 224 storing composite picture generation information for generating a composite picture by composing a map picture, a road picture, and annotation name display; and a display section 54. The annotation name display generation information 215 includes display level information 215a in which a plurality of display levels having different display amount of the annotation name display, and display level selection information 215b for selecting a specific display level from the display level information.
