PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust an light beam and a spherical aberration amounts such that reproduced signal quality becomes optimal while performing stable tracking control.

SOLUTION: The optical disk drive includes a control means. The control means controls, while the tracking control is in the off state, a focus position changing means so as to change the focus position of an light beam and controls a spherical aberration amount changing means to change a spherical aberration amounts, thereby performing a first search for searching a plurality of sets of the focus position of light beam and the spherical aberration amounts such that the amplitude of a tracking error signal is greater than a predetermined value. The control means performs a second search while the tracking control is in the on state. The second search is for determining a set of the focus position of light beam and the spherical aberration amounts such that a reproduced signal quality index is substantially optimal, among the plurality of sets of the focus position of light beam and the spherical aberration amounts obtained in the first search.
