The display device is arranged to be worn on the head of a user. It includes an image generator unit (2) which generates an image which can be seen by the user superimposed on the user's surroundings. The device also includes a marking unit (6) with a light source (79 which generates a light beam, and a deflection device (8). A control device (5) controls the marking device in dependence on given data such that the light beam marks part of an object which is located in the area lying within the field of view of the user. Independent claims also cover a display method.
