Means for mounting a fastening in a recess 1 in the edge of a glass door or the like, comprises a pair of complementary plate-like parts 3 adapted to be mounted at opposite sides of the door with their marginal edges overlapping the marginal edges of the door surrounding the recess 1 therein, means for preventing movement of the parts in planes parallel to the plane of the door, oppositely inclined and undercut surfaces 7 at the inner sides of the two parts, respectively, a wedge piece 8 adapted to engage behind both surfaces, a screw 9 for moving the wedge piece in the plane of the door so that by co-operating with the surfaces the wedge piece will draw the parts 3 into firm engagement with opposite sides of the door, and a fastening connected to, or formed on one of the parts. As shown, the recess 1 includes a pair of subrecesses 2 for receiving nylon pegs 4a or matal fibre-covered projections located in holes 4 in the inner surfaces of the parts 3 to prevent movement of the parts 3 in planes parallel to the plane of the door. The fastening is a standard latch lock 5 the fore-end 6 of which is received in the rebated edges of the parts 3 and is secured by the screw 9. A cover 11 is secured by screws 12 to cover the screw 9. Non-metallic gaskets 13 are disposed between the parts 3 and the door.</p> |
