PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for testing a liquid crystal display element which is suited for a large-area liquid crystal display element and can shorten the time for the test. SOLUTION: The apparatus for testing the liquid crystal display element comprises a TFT (thin film transistor) array substrate to be tested; a modulator installed above the TFT array substrate and including a transparent electrode and electrophoretic film formed on the transparent substrate; and a camera installed above the modulator, for measuring brightness of an image.
