PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor storage device which activates an auxiliary buffer by detecting load capacity of an excessive buffer size for driving the load in the state not hardly used in a normal operation, secures driving capability, and suppresses current consumption. SOLUTION: The semiconductor storage device which arranges two or more memory cells in a matrix and performs read operation and write operation, is configured so that load capacity (PA, PB, PC) to be driven by a buffer 15 is detected and an auxiliary buffer (auxiliary buffer main part 10A) is activated by a detection signal SBEN of the load capacity.
