Described is the use of desloratadine for the preparation of a medicament for treating and/or preventing congestion associated with allergic and inflammatory conditions of the airway passages in a human in need thereof which comprises an amount of desloratadine effective for such treating and/or preventing. Further described is the use of desloratadine for the preparation of a medicament for treating and/or preventing congestion associated with allergic and inflammatory conditions in a human in need thereof which comprises an amount of desloratadine effective for such treating and/or preventing in combination with one or more additional decongestants.
