The clothes hanger device has a oblong fixing device (2) with first fixing end (6) to fit on the back wall of the cupboard and with second spaced fixing member (9) which can be fixed on the clothes rail. A support element (3) connected to the fixing device can be moved in and out to change the distance between back wall and cupboard opening. An oblong hanger arm (4) is pivotally mounted on the support element and can be folded between a position where the fixing device, support element and hanger arm are in one plane, and an open position where the arm protrudes from same.
