PURPOSE:To prevent engine stop, in the case where the degree of change in a vehicle speed is increased when the number of revolutions of the engine is decreasing as the vehicle speed decreases, by causing the return to fuel supply even if the operating conditions of fuel-cut are fulfilled, and further by carrying out an increasing correction. CONSTITUTION:When it is judged by an ECU 5, during the operation of an engine 1, that the engine is in a prescribed decelerating operating condition, the cutoff of fuel supply (fuel cutoff) to a fuel injection valve 6 is carried out, and then, when the number of revolutions of the engine detected by an engine revolution sensor 10 becomes lower than a prescribed number of revolutions, the return to fuel supply is carried out. And when this is carried out, the fuel supply quantity is corrected so as to be increased. On the other hand, it is so constituted that the degree of change in the vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor 13 is detected to make it possible to release fuel cut depending on the degree of the change even if the operating conditions of fuel- out are fulfilled, and when the fuel cut is released, the supply quantity of fuel is simultaneously corrected so as to be increased.
